Absorptive Capabilities as Determinants of Economic Sustainability of Small and Medium-Scale Enterprises

Purpose – Drawing from the Absorptive Capabilities theory, this paper examines role played by dimensions of absorptive capabilities (i.e., knowledge acquisition, assimilation, transformation, and exploitation) on economic sustainability SMEs in Nigeria. Design/methodology/approach This study uses a cross-sectional research design to collect quantitative data 343 owners/managers Plateau State. Structural equation modeling through use Analysis Moments Structures (AMOS) software, version 23 was employed test hypotheses. Findings Research results indicate that all exert significant influence SMEs. Thus serve as antecedents could be realized. Limitations- The focus is State alone. may also undermine study. Implications work adds existing subject revealing are necessary for attainment sustainability. Originality Based current literature, studies predictor variables limited. No has been conducted using four dimensions, it pioneering terms both content context.
